My apologies - I've been busy, with work, life, the early incarnation of summer in March.
Okay, I know that's no excuse. So here's a little review I wrote for the lovely UrbanDeva on Alain de Botton's recent book Religion for Atheists.

Pro If you get the time, Daniel Dennett wrote an excellent book about how religions tend to appear spontaneously in cultures, as part of Darwinian evolution. I've forgotten what it's called...
Read your review, liked it. You shouldn't feel you are cheating by having a celebration on December 25th, we are entitled to adopt what we like in our culture, and nobody's "god" has ever managed to stop me!

Pro Thanks for the recommendation, sounds really interesting. I've studied social anthropology before, always love nosing into the evolution of society. That and a good read.

Pro He's my favourite American philosopher. A while ago, he was very ill. By his account, upon having been told by friends and relatives that they had prayed for him, he resisted the urge to ask them, "Did you also sacrifice a goat?"
